Revolutions of 1830 and 1848

1. During the Revolutions of 1830 and 1848, France got what they wanted. They wanted a constitution that would provide fair rights for them and that's what they got. They wanted a democracy. They didn't want to be bossed around by someone anymore and they wanted to have their own rights. My group studied the Polish revolution and we had to explain if it was successful or unsuccessful.

2. In our project, the main question that was supposed to be answered was " Were the Revolutions of 1830 and 1848 really failures as historians have concluded or should they receive some credit for progress in the long struggle toward greater democracy?" I think that the revolutions were successful in their attempts even though some of it didn't go they way that they wanted it to like Poland. Poland wanted to have independence and control of their land. Russia, Prussia, and Austria were the countries that were controlling Poland. When they went to fight, most of the Poles didn't support fighting the three big powers that they were taking on so Poland didn't get much support from their country which made it difficult to fight. They ultimately lost which was a part of the revolutions that was unsuccessful. The Revolution of 1830 was very successful. They wanted to overthrow their king and vote in a new one which they did. They also wanted a democracy and a new constitution which they got both of those too. They wanted to have freedom of speech and rights and that's exactly what they got which is why this revolution is such a big success. The Revolution of 1848 was a success and a failure. They wanted Louis Phillppe out because the economy was't doing too good and they thought it was his fault. Once he fled, everything was getting a little bit better but then as a country they voted in Louis Napoleon which was a bad idea. He was fine at first but after a while he reinstated absolute monarchy which was the biggest failure of this revolution because they worked so hard to get a democracy.
